Recovery points

Recovery points

My model Pajero 1992 Nh in factory form does not have any rated recovery points .

There is a is a tow hook  on the front and tie downs front and rear.

The tow hook click here is only for towing the vehicle , this is not a rated recovery point , these tow hooks only have light welds and may break away from the chassis when use as a recover point .

The front tie down click here  and rear tie down click here is only used as a tie down for transportation.

Here is a diff cover of a 4wd that was struck by a shackle on the end of a snatch strap from a recovery gone wrong.

You could imagine what sort of injury this could cause on a Human body.

No matter what 4wd vehicle you have check your manual and make sure if its a rated recovery point , you may just save you or someone else from serious injury.

Rated recovery points

On my Pajero I have installed rated recovery points front click here rear click here .

These recovery hooks are available from most auto and 4wd accessory shops.

These rated recover points are attached to the chassis by to High Tensile bolts which are supplied with the hooks when you buy them, I had to purchase longer High Tensile bolts from Coventries Fasteners (used to be called Sweetmans) .

The bolts are long enough to go down through the top of the chassis and out the bottom where to Recovery hook is mounted.
